Dr. Troy Kurz, MD, MS

Dr. Troy Kurz, MD, MS is a board-certified psychiatrist serving as Chief Medical Officer at Right Path Recovery, where he provides clinical leadership and oversees the organization's medical approach to addiction and mental health treatment.
A California native, Dr. Kurz completed his undergraduate studies at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, where he majored in biology and chemistry, before going on to earn his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Kurz completed both his general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, Riverside. He holds board certification in both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and brings additional expertise in psychopharmacology, ketamine treatment, and integrative psychiatry.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kurz has demonstrated commitment to innovation and evidence-based care. During his medical training, he conducted research on underserved populations, with work published in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine on the impact of funding instability on graduate medical education programs. He has also contributed to published research on suicide risk prediction and the pharmacologic treatment of stuttering.
Dr. Kurz has long recognized the potential of clinical informatics to improve outcomes for patients with mental illness and has been an advocate for incorporating data-driven approaches and technology into psychiatric care delivery.
Dr. Kurz brings a holistic, patient-centered philosophy to his work, with deep expertise in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, and a wide range of other mental health conditions across all age groups.
